Tadalafil belongs to the group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE 5) inhibitors, primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Erectile dysfunction is the inability to keep a hard and erect penis suitable for sexual activity. Benign prostatic hyperplasia, also called prostate enlargement, is the non-cancerous growth of the prostate gland.
Tadalafil contains ‘Tadalafil’, which works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis; this allows the blood to flow into the penis when the person is sexually excited. Thereby, it helps to treat erectile dysfunction. Clinical PharmacologyThe efficacy of the pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) pharmacokinetic (PKK) values and the bioequivalence of a single dose of oral Cialis (Tadalafil) was evaluated in 653 patients. After a single dose of tadalafil (0.2, 1, or 2 mg), the mean Cmax was reached in 65% and 63% of patients, respectively. The mean AUC0–1 increased by 45% and 30% in patients receiving a dose of tadalafil, compared to the control group (mean AUC0–1: 48%, P < 0.001). The mean PSA (0.2, 0.5, and 1.0%) was 0.01, 0.04, 0.05, and 0.06%, respectively. The mean PSA and AUC0–1 ratios for patients receiving tadalafil and the respective groups of patients were similar: 0.08 and 0.1, respectively. The mean PSA and AUC0–1 ratios for the patients receiving a single dose of tadalafil were also similar: 0.08 and 0.1, respectively.
